The Type 1 $1 Gold was minted from 1849 to 1854. This is the first of three types of Gold $1 minted. Known as the Liberty Head or small sized type, the weight is .0538 troy oz. with a fineness of .900. The diameter is 13mm and has a fine Gold content of .0438 troy oz.
