when the U.S. won the spanish american war spain forked over the phillipines becoming a U.S. territory. The first coins were struck in 1907. They were considered legal tender in the U.S. as 2 peso's on the dollar. They were made in denver, sanfransisco, philidelpha and Manila. I the coin is worth between $8-$25 unless in mint condition.
