If not ... the best I can say is that the value of a $20 gold piece from that year is mostly dependent on the current price of gold, rather than its condition or mint mark as might be expected. The only exception would be if it is a certified high-grade uncirculated piece. Anyway, a few weeks ago 1899 $20 Liberty Head pieces retailed in the mid $800 range, but since gold has dropped the price has fallen to the upper 700s. Where it is headed next is anyone's guess.
In any case if the coin is being purchased at auction my own preference would be to have it formally graded and certified before laying out any cash.
