It most likely stands for SPECIMEN. This would apply to the 1993 and 1997 Jefferson Nickels and the 1998 Kennedy half from the 3 piece commemorative sets.
They were given a spcial matt finish.
Not sure which service used it (PCGS or NGC) but an eBay search should tell you.
