Nice find - my best in the last 3 years was one 1962 Phila. dime in maybe, just barely F-12. But yeah, they're still out there. We'll get 'em, one silver coin at a time.

It's possible that the weak economy is making people hunt around in old piggy banks and backs of couches for extra change. I remember that downturn back in the '90s brought out a lot of older coins and bills - for ex. my wife got a 1934D $5 FRN in change and I pulled a couple of bucks face value worth of silver from various places.

Now if you're asking for an ALL-TIME best: when I was in 6th grade my mother took all of us on a shopping trip to one of the big city dept. stores (no malls in those days!). Of course we kids got hungry so she bought us a snack at the cookie counter. The cashier started to make change and said something like, Oh you don't want that one, it's some kind of foreign coin. I'd already been collecting for about 3 years and knew enough that it definitely wasn't foreign - I'll take it anyway, I told her. And I still have that 1849-O Seated Liberty half...

: Just got back from the local (semi-rural) post office. I received two rather beat up quarters in change there. Of course I checked 'em out- one is a 1953-S Quarter, the other is unfortunately clad. Seemed odd that I would get two 'weird' quarters in change at one time, so I went back in and ordered another book of 'Forever' stamps. Got 2 normal clad quarters in change. This is my first silver find in circulation in a couple years, so I'm fired up! Whoop! Yeah baby!
