: : : i have a 2001 vermont quarter that has no silver on its back.i recieved this coin as change from a convenience store.i immediatly had it put in a coin sleeve and put it away.i am looking to sell now and am curious of its value before i pursue this.can anyone help me out there?

: : Before you realy pursue it really need to find out for sure what it is. Most of the time when someone has something they think is a missing clad layer it often turns out to simply be discolored. The first thing that need to be determined is what does it weigh? A quarter with a missing clad layer will be noticeably underweight. So what does it weigh?
: i took it to coin dealer,he offered $100 for it. i have also had two offers from online of $200. ther is no silver clad on back of coin. another online site says that unlike the 2004 coins, there were very few of the 2001,and therefore rarer.

IMO $200 sounds high but if someone's willing to offer that much I'd be very tempted to take the $$$ before they change their mind!

And to note once again, the outer layers are copper-nickel, not silver. Circulating quarters dated 1965 and later do not have any silver in them.
