: But seriously, folks, I'm guessing that you mean GOLD. However without a more complete description than "really pretty" it's not possible to ID it. Please add a response with some more details - for ex., what pictures are on it? What's its denomination? Does it have a country name on it?

: One possibility for a quarter-sized coin is that it has either a Native American woman and baby on the front and a soaring eagle on the back, or the portrait of a US president on the front and the Statue of Liberty on the back. If you have either of those, your coin is (a) brass, not gold, and (b) a common $1 coin that's neither rare nor valuable.

: If it's anything else, some more digging will be needed to ID it.
