You're right to be skeptical. Copies of coins are almost never worth very much. Most of them are made of base metals with a thin plating of gold or silver - and sometimes not even that.
There ARE some companies that make precious-metal replicas specifically for investment, but these items would indicate their content and purity (e.g. "1 oz .999 fine silver" or similar).
Because you didn't mention any wording like that I assume there's no indication on the coins, which would indicate they're most likely plated base metal. Unfortunately they may not even be worth the original selling price because there's not much demand for replicas among collectors.
: Son-in-law has acquired 3 copies of the 1933 St. Gaudens $20 coin. All 3 have "E Pluribus Unum" under the United States of America, instead of "Twenty Dollars". They all have the word "copy" at the bottom with the serial number under that.
: Are these any different or of any more [anymore] value than the ones selling for $12.95??
