I believe this one might be genuine because the surface is very smooth and shiny like a dime. no apparent tampering.

: They are both worth the same, 1¢.

: When they first started making copper plated zinc cents in 1982, some were struck on blanks that didn't have the copper coating. They brought quite a premium. Then some enterprising folks found a way to strip the copper off and flooded the market with the altered coins and killed the 'error' market on them.
