It was not made for use in Alaska.
It was minted as payment to the Saudi Arabia government as payment for oil. It contains slightly less than an ounce of gold. That makes it worth $1200 at least.
It was assigned a value of 4 Pounds.
There was also a 1/4 ounce piece minted with a Pound value.
: I have a gold coin that my 85 yr. old Mother told me she got it from her Dad and he told her it is a Legal Tender Gold Coin from Alaska. On the front of the coin is a Eagle and reads US Mint above the Eagle and under it reads Philadelphia-USA. On the back it reads, Gross Weight-493.l Grains
: Net Weight-452.009333 GR.
: Fineness 915 2/3
: Do you know anything about this coin and how much it is worth? Any info would be helpful.
: Thanks, Tina
